Re: HENRY'S BLOGwhat I was getting at was that if he cues anything like me then he would have the same issue as me and that's a worry!
Re: HENRY'S BLOG2 big tournaments coming up; Fred Osbourne and the Nationals.
And my preparation couldn't have been worse. Had eye surgery last thursday due to blocked oil glands in the eyelid leading to severe swelling and pain. So I haven't been able to practice as I can't see. Looks like I'll be using my C-game in Albury
Re: HENRY'S BLOG
lol Henry this is my first trip to Albury,so I'm looking forward to seeing your drinking skills.
Re: HENRY'S BLOGI approach my drinking the same as I do my snooker, I pretend I'm better than what I actually am! haha
Re: HENRY'S BLOG
I can vouch for the drinking part
Re: HENRY'S BLOG
I recall last time we went out I basically carried you home
Re: HENRY'S BLOG
If that was the case you would have been sleeping on the streets cos you wouldnt have known where to go!
Re: HENRY'S BLOGGoing to albury tomorrow and I'm happy with my game
doesn't mean I can't get knocked out 1st round though. I remember Neil saying that he could be playing great, preparation perfect and then got knocked out in the 1st round. Then there was a time when he wasn't playing great but ended up winning the tournament! Anyway, last night went up to princes and had a great match with Benny Giang, definately the fastest improver I've seen. He was up 2-0 and I knuckled down with my trademark tough matchplay and got him 3-2 hehehe. looking forward to albury tomorrow! and if I get knocked out it's ok, I've got a movie date with alex render!
Re: HENRY'S BLOG
Play well and make sure you buy Alex popcorn on your date and a choc top, who will grab who's knee though in the jumpy bits that's the real question
Re: HENRY'S BLOGI think I jinxed myself when I said sometimes you are playing well but don't get results cos that's exactly waht happened in albury.
I lost 3-2 to Sumit after leading 2-0 and it was a weird match. The other guy started poorly but then switched on and played freakish. There wasn't much I could do really, his safety was better and created chances for himself and he scored heavily. And when he missed he didn't leave me on, just one of those matches to forget. Snooker can be so frustrating, I've been playing well, nothing special but very consistent. But this time I couldn't get past the 1st round! Lance pannel a couple months back I was playing shocking with no confidence at all but managed to beat Robby and Glen to make the semi's! But that's snooker, I refuse to give in and will be practicing even harder for the nationals next weekend. And if I get knocked out 1st round again then all hell's gonna break loose!
Re: HENRY'S BLOGYou should have come out Henry, we got kicked out of Paddy's! lol Actually, Joe Sacco did and Thorpy said "Well If your kicking him out, your kicking all of us out"!
On another note, I reckon you should speed your game up, looks a bit slow!
Re: HENRY'S BLOGNick we all tell him he is slow he dont listen
And Henry can not drink..... 2 beers and his face is red and he is gone
Re: HENRY'S BLOGyeah I admit my game has slowed down a lot in recent years and I'm not sure why. I think it has a lot to do with weekly pennant where I rock up straight after work feeling all tired and have no energy or motivation to play quick. And that speed/style has become habit. But the major downside to playing slow is that I never get into any sort of rythym and hence my lack of breaks recently which is starting to irk me.
But not to worry, I'll be playing much quicker at the nationals, time to bring the mongrel out! no more Mr nice guy what u mean 2 drinks luke? 1 drink and my face goes red like a tomato.
Re: HENRY'S BLOGG'day Henry,
You need rythme, you also need to make sure that you no what shot you want to play before you get down, if not get up and start again. Indecision is the big killer in snooker, positive approach to the shot you are making whether it is a safety shot or a an attacking pot. If you think s!!! then it will generally happen. Regards Eddie.
Re: HENRY'S BLOG
Cmon Luke, you pulled the pin really early! Softy! Brent was really chessed off, says you do it all the time! lol
Re: HENRY'S BLOGwell snooker nationals starts tomorrow.
I've made a few changes to my technique recently so I'm not expecting much. I've made changes because it's probably been 2 years since I last changed something. And within these 2 years, technically I felt my game wasn't at the standard it should be. So I'd like to think that I'm taking one step backwards so that I can take 2 steps forwards in the near future. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to the weekend.
Re: HENRY'S BLOGNationals, 1st match I came up against Ben Nunan, the best cue sports all rounder in the country. I led 3-1 and he fought back to 3-3 and luckily he missed the pink to win the match and I potted it along with the black to win 4-3!
Next was Shawn Budd, he went for a crazy plant at the start and smashed all the red balls everywhere, probably trying to intimidate me but that stuff doesn't work on me lol. I was very relaxed and made a 20 something off that before running out of position and playing safe. I led 2-1 but couldn't capitalise and he eventually won 4-2 in waht I felt was a huge battle where every frame was close. Overall I played alright, both matches I could never find any rythym which seems to sum up my year actually. I'm cueing solid and happy with my shot selection but just not scoring as well as I should be which is costing me big time. Something I need to work on which is depressing cos I don't have that time. Anyway, I'll keep fighting and will keep looking forward to the next tournament.
