Personal Attackes

Postby Alex Render » Sat Sep 06, 2008 8:50 pm

Ok, there has been a fair few posts / topics of late that have contained perosnal attacks / insults on individuals whether be players / spectators or officials. Guess who keeps getting the phone calls and emails? ME. Frankly I am over it and have better things to do with my life. Examples, insulting an individual and using their name (whether they are right or wrong), posting someones photo in an attempt to pee someone off (Dallas) etc. In addition to this, moderators deleting posts / topics and not explaining the action to the creator.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of the stuff on here but I don't enjoy the posts that results in my time being wasted. Please think before you type. Deliberate personal attacks will result in warnings and account suspension from here on in. Moderators who execute personal attacks will receive the same punishment.

I agree with you there Alex, I know we all have our fun and share of sarcasm, but not everyone has thick skin, and can take the constant barrage of  dished out by Luke and Dallas (when on the receiving end).... oh and other members of course, most on here can be guilty of that, me included :)

I know a lot of players who just browse here as guests, because they are concerned of being a prospective ..."victim", I know I've mentioned this before.

Yada yada, I know the limited few here will say "It's only fun, if they can't take a joke.. then blah blah"

This forum is for the majority... not the manority... capish. 8)

HAPPY FATHERS DAY.. to all the pops.

i am not saying that personal attacks are ok because they are not

however

when an officials actions or the actions of a player create a controversial situation isn't that open for discussion? is that not how we learn from these things and improve?

why is Sir Rodney Walkers actions and his running of World Snooker open for discussion in world wide press, but the officials of Australian / Victorian snooker cant be discussed in a forum based in snookers backwaters?

What is discussed here is exactly what is said at tournaments when a few players sit together and talk about how the tourny is going. Do the officials think that this is the only place a bad call, match, frame, opponent, controversial moment, bad ref, bad sportsmanship, etc, etc, is talked about ? Imagine if you had mods from the ABSC, the referees or other officials, every point of discussion that wasn't favourable towards them would be deleted. So then what would be the point of the forum ? I personally have learnt a great deal, met many new friends and caught up with many old friends and travelled to tournaments I wouldn't have previously considered if not for the forum, and had a great time. Half this post should have been in another topic.

I think overall, the forum has contributed more positive than negative.

Ray makes a good point, the forum has put a lot of names to faces, who have then met up, or played against in various tournament's in Australia.

I think the guys I've met on here are great, and it's been nice meeting the people involved in this great game. We all have a good laugh, at the end it's just a game, (competitive in competition no doubt) but a game nonetheless.

I've come back playing for 2 yrs, after a 10 yr break, and I don't want this game to be tarnished, so be good or I'll smack uzzzz. :P

I think people can still constructively give negative feeback to the associations without having to personally name any individuals or attack anyone.

The difference between the ABSC/VBSA/BSANSW etc and the AFL/NRL or World Snooker Association etc is that they are all professional associations rather then non/minimally paid associations. Essentially snooker associations in Aus rely on people like Alex as a example to give their time to the sport they are passionate about for little return. If we personally attacked all the people who helped out for any mistakes they make, then we would soon run out of people who would help.

Alex it XOXOX me that you have to put up with 6 fingered banjo playering wanna be snooker players......So me to call travis crawley a xoxo, undeserved talent around a snooker table and a guy who should be thinking about growing a neck and the average tred mill run rather than practicing. I should really say this to his face and i think everyone should do the same thing to others.......When it becomes a personal issue go face to face and dont hide behind a keyboard...But always be ready for the right hook...
There has been a lot of abuse lately so guys grow some balls and if u have an issue deal with it...
So travis this is a game called pick a box...U pick 1 of 4 boxes...These boxes contain the following.....
1...3 rounds with matt helm...
2...Best of 11 for a thousand with leigh senko
3...If you pick the leigh senko box and beat him refeer back to box 1
4...12 months membership at fitness first

I see your AA meetings have had no success Billy!

And maybe its big fingers rather than bad spelling as the E is next to the S on the keyboard.
