Congratulations to Johl Younger from Victoria in winning the 2012 City of Melbourne Snooker Tournament. Apart from the trophy and any prize money, Johl now has the privilege in competing in the Australian Goldfields Open in July in Bendigo. Well done Johl!

Below are the full results as supplied by the Victorian Billiards and Snooker Association (VBSA).

High Breaks

The weekend saw the culmination of our efforts to stage the City of Melbourne Snooker Championship. The event was very successful due to the efforts of a lot of people and I would like to personally thank a small number of them:
  • Adam Wyard - for seeding the players so promptly and for his enormous input into producing the program
  • Michael D'Silva - functioned admirably as the Tournament Director and has accepted the position for the National Titles in August
  • George Hoy - was his usual efficient self with the money
  • Alan Croft - created the entry form and the groupings
  • Tania Ahmet - updated the ABSC website so that everybody could follow the results
  • All of the referees that participated in the weekend
  • Dan Lynch and for the live streaming and video of the Final
Thanks to all the Clubs who participated in the Round Robin. The two qualifiers for the Australian Goldfields are Johl Younger and James Mifsud. On behalf of everyone we would like to wish them all the best in Bendigo.

The world ranking event, which was staged for the first time last year, runs from July 9 to 15 in Bendigo, Victoria. Stuart Bingham will defend the title he won last year. The top 16 seeded players will be at the venue, as well as 16 qualifiers and the two wild cards, who will face the two lowest seeded qualifiers.

Mifsud and Younger won their places at the 2012 City of Melbourne Snooker Championship last Sunday.

Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Louise Asher, said the Australian Goldfields Open was a great event for Bendigo.

"The Goldfields Open provides yet another good excuse to visit Bendigo in the winter months. The city offers spectators and competitors a variety of things to enjoy including heritage attractions, art galleries and wonderful restaurants," Ms Asher said.

"The event also provides good exposure for Bendigo to a global television audience."

Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling Bendigo Stadium on 03 5440 6214.
